It is a beautiful fall day in Veneta and Eugene this morning. As I write in the Eugene Public library, the sight of the golden orange and rusty red leaves is seen out the large windows. I came into town this morning to run some errands and stopped in a coffee shop with a “help wanted” sign on the door to inquire. The aroma of coffee and fresh eggs is a great way to welcome the new day especially on an Oregon farm. Heavy fog soaked the deep green mountains and the horses’ manes looked as if they had just gone for a jog in the rain.
My new home as of last night is the leathery saddle room at a farm in Veneta, about 12 miles west of Eugene. As soon as I got in that night it started to rain, and I was glad to be inside. I have …
